Yesterday, I got an invitation in the mail, inviting me to a Mitt Romney fundraiser on June 22nd, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I was thrilled to death until I realized two things: First, I had already agreed to watch my sister’s five children while she goes out of town for the week, and I wouldn’t get back until late on the 22nd, maybe not even until the 23rd. Second, the price of the fundraiser was $250 per plate for the dinner, and I just don’t have that kind of cash.
I promptly went and threw myself a pity party. It was a great one, full of moaning and groaning and why me’s. Too bad you all had to miss it. It was quite the rockin’ party (mostly because I was rocking back and forth and wailing and knashing my teeth, but ya know, still rockin’.)
Then this morning, I talked to my sister, and found out that she would be willing to have someone come babysit her kids for that last day so I could go to the fundraiser. Brilliant!! One problem down, another to go. Unfortunately, it was a rather large problem: There wasn’t any way I would be able to pay $250 for dinner (my husband squacks when we pay $15 per plate for dinner - I’m pretty sure $250 is out of our price range)
But! What if I called and volunteered to help with the dinner?? I’m sure they need volunteers. Everyone needs volunteers. So I called the lady in charge, who seemed extremely nice, and she put me down on the list of people to call if they needed help, and she also had me send her an e-mail so she could reach me that way.
Now I just have to wait and see if she does contact me. Everyone, cross your fingers! I haven’t been this excited to work for free since…Well, never!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
