I had, of course, hoped for the gold, but I still have high hopes for Wyoming (coming up this weekend) and New Hampshire. Wyoming is a very red state, and Mitt is leading the donations in Wyoming for the Republican side over 2 - 1. So I think it’s pretty safe to bet that Wyoming will go Romney. I would quote polls, but after an extensive search online, found that there wasn’t one to be found anywhere. Apparently the MSM doesn’t care enough about Wyoming to even take a simple poll of it. It’s a neighbor to my state (Idaho) so I have a soft spot for it, so I think that’s pretty crummy, but whatever.
Anyway, all of that takes us to New Hampshire. The win by Obama tonight is a blow to the McCain candidacy, because any Independents who were looking at voting for McCain (which he has always been a big draw for the Independent crowd) will now most likely vote for Obama, who is an even bigger draw for Independents. That means that McCain can’t rely on those Independents to help fuel a victory against Mitt.
Does this put more pressure on New Hampshire? Certainly. But, I think Mitt still has an excellent chance for victory. If he can place 1st or a very close 2nd there, then we’re onto Michigan, which is obviously a great state for Mitt.
This can happen. Chin up, all!
