I have been reading the polls and the articles, and I keep thinking that if, heaven forbid, McCain wins the Republican nomination and Obama wins the Democratic nomination, well, we might as well pack our bags and go home. The chances of winning the presidency at that point are almost nil.
And I’ll tell you why: Let’s picture for just a moment, Obama up on the stage, mike in hand. Talking to the crowds, stirring them into enthusiastic cheers for him. Then come McCain - old, white hair, wrinkles on his face. He doesn’t have even a 10th of the charisma that Obama has, and the crowds won’t respond to him anything like they respond to Obama. The differences will be stark.
But, as bad as that is, it’ll only get worse: Here comes Obama and his talk about change. Oh yes, people cry! We want something different in Washington - what has been happening is ridiculous, and we want CHANGE! McCain says, “Hey, I too can provide change!” Umm, how exactly? He’s been in politics since 1982 - 26 years. It would be a bit like Strom Thurmond saying that a vote for him is a vote for change. It makes no sense. If you’ve been politics for almost 3 decades, you’re what people are wanting to change from, not who people are going to vote to lead the charge on change.
Compare that to Obama: He’s been in politics for 10 years, and has only been on the national scene since 2003. Who do you think will win the change debate? And with that handily won, who do you think will win the presidency?
The one and only way that McCain would be able to win against Obama was if something happened between now and November to America: Another attack on American soil, in other words. Then McCain will be seen as the one who has the knowledge to lead us through that.
Ouch. How would you like to base your campaign’s ability to win on an attack against America? That’s not a position I would be happy to take. But if it’s business as usual until November, Obama will win the change debate and consequently, the presidency.
We cannot let McCain win, because if we do, we lose. It’s just that simple.

Hello. I was pointed to this website to a friend of mine who is a rather big Mitt Romney fan. I think this is a rather interesting site, and I applaude you for posting videos of the republican debates. Or to be more specific, you let the debates speak for themselves, rather than forcing yourself down everyone else throats. However, when I see this page, I am reminded of what is broken in American politics. So many of us are bent on the utter defeat of the other party, rather than getting the best candidate to lead this country forward. When I look at the candidates, I see that most of them seem to actually believe that what they can do is positive for the growth of America. None(well, ok, maybe Hillary :D), are ‘out to get’ anyone. Yes, many have different views of how to best lead the country, but when we treat the opposing parties as a sort of ‘ultimate evil’ that must be overcome, then we will never accomplish anything, as certainly, neither party is going to be disassembled any time soon. When we treat the election as a competetion, rather than the chance to let the American people choose who they wish to lead the country, I believe we not only lose sight of the whole idea of the election, but we insult the intelligence of the American person, which is the last thing that any honest conservative should be doing.
Thank you for listening.
